RPO: You’re My Only Hope

Let’s keep the ball rolling!

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Darth Vader has failed to locate the Rebel’s secret base, and is now sending droids out into every corner of the universe to find them. In the remote, ice world of Hoth, the Rebels (which now include: Han Solo, Chewie, Luke, C3PO, and R2D2) are still trying to plan attacks on the Empire. Unfortunately, one of the scouter droids manages to find the Rebel base, and now Darth Vader is sending in Stromtroppers and AT-AT Walkers to destroy it.

The battle is tough on the Rebels, but they manage to escape and relocate their base. Luke takes R2D2 to the Dagoba System, to find Yoda and receive training to become a Jedi. Yoda is weary of teaching the ways of the Jedi to someone so old, it didn’t work out very well last time. But, Luke and Obi-Wan (in spirit form) manage to convince Yoda, and so Luke’s training begins.

Meanwhile, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewie and C3PO fly to the Cloud City in the planet Bespin, in hopes of getting help from an old friend, Lando Calrissian. However, Darth Vader is one step ahead and his plans include using Luke’s friends to lure him into a trap. It obviously works, but before Luke can get there to save them, Han is frozen in carbonite and Lando barely manages to escape with Princess Leia, Chewie, and a dismembered C3PO.

Darth Vader and Luke are fighting in the carbonite chamber. Luke hasn’t been fully trained as a Jedi yet, so Darth Vader manages to cut one of his hands off. Then he asks Luke if Obi-Wan told him about his father, and Luke says he knows he killed his father. To which Darth Vader replies: “No. I am your father” (please note, he does NOT say: ‘Luke, I am your father’). Miraculously, Luke manages to escape him, falling down a shaft, and is then picked up by his friends in the Millenium Falcon.

This is not one of my favorite Star Wars movies. I think it might be a little to slow for me. I do enjoy seeing as the whole storyline comes together! This movie has been the one I remember the best so far. I wasn’t surprised by much, like I was with the first three.

What is your favorite Star Wars movie? How about your favorite character?
