I watched Episodes I-III of Star Wars, and soon will start watching Episodes IV-VI (probably tonight, but I’m not 100% positive). I am also going to start watching Family Ties, an 80s TV Show, because it is also mentioned in RPO; but I will talk more about that later.
Today, I wanted to share some John Green quotes to help you and myself, through the week.
“Saying ‘I notice you’re a nerd’ is like saying, ‘Hey, I notice that you’d rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you’d rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?’ In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even ‘lame’ is kind of lame. Saying ‘You’re lame’ is like saying ‘You walk with a limp.’ Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he’s done all right for himself.” -John Green
“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.” – John Green
(The above quote could be the definition of what it means to be book obsessed.)
“Some people don’t understand the promises they’re making when they make them,” I said.
“Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That’s what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.” – John Green
(The Fault in Our Stars)
and the last one:
“I mean Hank, the movie was great, but the thirty minutes before the movie started was what I love about being a nerd. Because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. We don’t have to be like, ‘Oh yeah that purse is okay’ or like, ‘Yeah, I like that band’s early stuff.’ Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself-love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they are saying is, ‘You like stuff’, which is just not a good insult at all, like ‘You are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.” -John Green. (While discussing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in their vlogbrothers video)
So, be a nerd, read books, fall in love, and have a Harry Potter marathon. It’s all good in the end when you have John and Hank Green videos.
